December 4: 20 Days of Cannabis Infused Cookie Recipes Day 15- Orange Gingerbread

Updated: Jan 23, 2019

This orange gingerbread recipe is so delicious and you can make cookies or a gingerbread house! This Canna Gingerbread house is perfect for your adult holiday canna party -or- a quite, fun night at home in the kitchen with your love! ;)

Bake 300degrees F. 8-10 minutes

Time: 4-6 hours

Yields enough dough for one house about 5.25inch square or a couple dozen cookies of various shapes and sizes

*about half a teaspoon of cannabutter per approx. 2.5 to 3 inch cookies piece

1/4 cup cannabis infused butter, softened

1/4 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup molasses

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon ground ginger

1 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 cups flour

2 tablespoons orange juice

1 tablespoon orange zest

6-8 ounces white chocolate for decorating -or- 1 recipe royal icing

1/2 cup chocolate of choice for "gluing" house together (only need for house, not cookie shapes)

decorations- rice kripsie treats, sprinkles, gumdrops, marshmallows, graham crackers, cookies, licorice, toffee, candycanes, hard candy- whatever you want to decorate with (not needed for cookie shapes, only needed for house décor)

For more potency you can also decorate with cannabis infused candies and chocolates from the dispensaries or your own kitchen also! Infused hard candy would make great windows using the same concept as the stained glass window cookies and filling the empty window space with candy dust before baking.

Cream butters and sugars. Add molasses, orange juice, zest and spices, mix. Combine flour and baking soda in separate bowl- add into wet ingredients. If mix seems too dry and crumbly, add a splash more orange juice or water. Once, combined and dough is smooth and slightly sticky, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for about 2 hours or overnight.

After, 2 hours, roll dough between around 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Cut house shapes (or cookies)- for house you need 2 square side walls, 2 end walls with peak, 2 rectangle roof panels. I made my own templates using a 5 1/4 inch square box to start. You can find templates all over the internet- but I will work on getting one on here asap! I actually had enough dough to do all the wall/roof pieces and also a few accessory/details. *Cut your windows before baking!!! I made a door and a few "wood" planks to line my rice krispie deck with. :)

Bake the gingerbread at 300degrees F. for about 8-10 minutes- until done. Let cool completely before handling!!

Once, gingerbread is completely cooled you can begin decorating. I used chocolate to apply graham crackers to look like shutters and help the windows come to life. Do the window and door decorations while the gingerbread is flat on cookie sheets- let set completely before standing up. I used chocolate to stand and "glue" each panel together also. It sets faster than royal icing, so for the structural parts, I definitely recommend chocolate of your choice! For the snow- piping (or spreading) royal icing or white chocolate works great (powdered sugar works too). The "snow" should be the last step! I cut marshmallows and dipped in colored sugar to create the Marshrooms (instructions below).

For the walk way I used toffee bits and colored sugar stuck to chocolate- to look like mossy rocks.

Rice krispies were used to mold the deck and trees. The deck I covered with gingerbread "boards", using chocolate as adhesive. The rice krispie trees I pressed into 2 green colored sugars and topped with white chocolate. The snow man is marshmallow wrapped in fondant- "glued" together with chocolate. A fondant scarf and nose with a cookie hat. Marshmallows cut into fourths above the windows to add bulk to the white chocolate "snow".

Marshroom making instructions:

The decoration possibilities are endless! I kind of went for a smores theme with the graham, marshmallows and chocolate. This is the perfect stoner couple craft also, btw! Tons of fun to smoke and decorate while eating some of the décor also! It is the perfect take along to a canna friendly holiday party- or have a party just to decorate and consume cannabis! :)

Have fun!
