Orange Cookies

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

When you first bring the cookie up to your nose, you will barely smell much more than sweet, but after the first bite you're hit with the citrus and slight pine of the Orange Cookies profile along with a burst of citrus flavor from the fresh squeezed orange juice used to flavor both the cookies and the royal icing.

For the blog, I went ahead and 'modified' the Orange Cookies recipe (which is just my cannabis sugar cookie recipe I have posted another time or two on here already) to contain cannabis and the Orange Cookies terps! Best of both worlds! Pictured here are uninfused cookies, but I thought someone may be interested in the recipe with cannabis.

Bake: 300 degrees F

prep time: 2.5 hours, bake time 8-10 minutes, decorating time 4+ hours

yields about 2 dozen

Orange Sugar Cookies

3 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cannabis infused butter, softened

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg, slightly beaten

1 tablespoon fresh orange juice

In mixer cream butters with sugar until smooth. Mix in beaten egg and orange juice. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mix to creamed butter mix. Combine until dough forms a ball, scraping down sides as needed. Form into 2 separate rounds, wrap each tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.

After chilling dough, remove one round from fridge and cut in half. Roll each half to about 1/4 inch and cut into rounds using a glass or cookie cutter. Place rounds onto lined baking sheets and bake in 300 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes; you will start to smell the cookies and the bottom edges will have a slight golden brown when they are finished. Cool on wire rack completely before icing.

Orange Cookies Royal Icing

3 medium egg whites

about 4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

3 drops Orange Cookies Terp Profile by True Terpenes

1 tablespoon fresh orange juice to thin flood icings

Beat egg white until they begin to form peaks, start gradually adding powdered sugar and cream of tartar while continuing to beat the eggs. Add 3 drops Orange Cookies terpenes. Continue to beat until you have reached soft peaks. This consistency will be used for 'dam' icing or the perimeter. Set about 1/4 cup dam icing to side (use food dye if desired to tint). With remaining icing, add 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice to thin for flooding. Divide into separate bowls to color with food dye to reach desired color pallet.

Cool cookies completely before decorating. After decorating, let harden overnight.

For the orange design I used a pale orange/cream color and also a white for the dam icing. I used 3 different orange colors to tint the flood icing. A bright orange, a pale orange and one in between the two to give some dimension. I also used an orange half while I decorated to try and accurately depict an orange.

Orange Cookies is an uplifting and peaceful profile; terpinolene and beta caryophyllene dominant. Get 10% off your next terpene purchase with coupon code: sweetterpenes entered into the "store credit" box found on the carts page at http://buy-terpenes.com.
